Formation of Terrace and the Habitat of the Early People
Mayama Terrace
Repeated uplifting of the ground and erosion by the river had caused to
form a terrace in the basin of Kabura River. This is where you can see
how the sea beds that were previously under water rose to the ground. By
standing on top of the terrace (which is about 260 to 310 meters where
there are remains from the Paleolithic age and Jomon period, you can imagine
the life and the view enjoyed by the people in the old days. Also, visitors
can actually see how the changes in the way of life prompted the people
to move to lower grounds.
